Application and characteristics of ABS filament
ABS is the least expensive material , and one of the most widely used because it is lightweight and durable.
This material is suitable for many different applications , such as:
-
machinery spare parts (due to dimensional stability , strength and stiffness )
-
elements that are exposed to high temperatures , such as sunlight or hot water (temperature range for continuous operation -40 ° C to + 85 ° C)
-
helmets , protective elements (it has a very high impact resistance)
-
in the manufacture of pipes ( has good chemical resistance ) .
In contrast to PLA filament , filament ABS suitable for printing small elements with a lot of detail.
It can be cut ( to smooth and remove the jagged edges of the print ) and painted . Rough surfaces can also be smoothed by wiping print acetone , which is widely available in the form of certain nail remover . After wiping print acetone obtained shiny surfaces .
Printed or damaged parts can be bonded with adhesive to the ABS .
Due to the required shrinkage of the heated table.
